Monday Musings: Splish Splash
Welp. It's that time of year again. The time of year when I feel like I want to throw out everything in my entire house and start over! Does anyone else ever feel that way? It's normally a sign that it's time for a deep clean and a declutter. Am I right?
Normally it's a closet situation, which in this case I'm thinking that's part of it. Let's be real, that's always part of it! My closet is always due for a little pare down. sidenote: has anyone done the capsule wardrobe experiment? If you have, let me know how it went in the comments below! I digress... I think the biggest source of "WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING?!" is the bathroom.
This is the first bathroom I've had that has more than a tiny toilet, crammed next to a tiny shower, next to a tiny sink. Basically, my bathroom now is the same size as both my bathrooms in D.C. combined! I'm learning more space just means more room for more stuff which isn't always a great thing. In this case, it's a terrible thing. I've lost all control of my bathroom organization and it's time I stepped up my game.
This week my goal is to go through all my ipsy goodies, organize and trash anything I don't need, get some new storage, and replace my towels from college with something fun and new.
To get me amped, this week's Monday Musings is all about bathroom storage and decor. Anyone else feeling like declutterin'? Next week – I'm tackling the closet. Let's do this! If you're accepting the challenge, send me a snap, message me on insta or facebook, tweet it at me, or leave a comment below!

1. The Inspiration
Is it really a project if you don't start by looking at pinterest for inspiration? I don't think so... Here's the vibe I'm trying to achieve. Obviously, I'm renting, so I can't knock out walls or change fixtures, but I'm wanting a mix between vintage and minimal. I guess a little Anthropologie-esque with a taste of modern-boho.

2. Because I'm Missing the Montage...
As a [formerly] frequent visitor of all the Montage resorts, I've gotten used to a bathtub with a fabulous loofah, fantastic soap, and an easily accessible candle, all collected in a perfect bathtub caddy. There's just something about a tub caddy that takes a bathroom from ordinary to HELLO spa treatment. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to go the DIY route, wire basket route or wood tray. I guess I could skip the bathtub caddy and just go full on rolling caddy next to the tub, I'm kinda loving that idea too. What do you think?
I'm thinking I might DIY mine, there are so many great tutorials out there, and it seems fairly easy. I love the simplicity of Ella Clair Inspired's pine bathtub tray. It's a great mix of rustic and modern. If you're more into all rustic, Knick of Time made theirs from a reclaimed pallet. Finally, and possibly the most unique is A Beautiful Mess with their Lucite bath tray.
Then again, less time DIY-ing is more time soaking it up in the tub. So I'm thinking I'm going to go with one of these options.

3. Bathroom Storage Solutions
I think one of the most annoying things about my bathroom is the lack of upper storage area. Everything is below the sink, and there are no drawers (oh the joys of apartment living!). The cabinets are SUPER deep, which is great, but that means stuff always gets pushed to the back and lost. I'm thinking bins and stacking shelves are going to be the only solution. Good thing everyone as all their back to school stuff right now. It's the perfect time to shop for small space storage solutions! #nerd Does anyone else love back to school shopping as much as I do?

4. Salts & Scrubs
No "turn your bathroom into a spa" post would be complete without some bath salts and sugar scrubs! I can't wait to try out these recipes for relaxation. Kitchy Kitchen is one of my favorite bloggers, I've followed her for FOREVER, and I love the idea behind her DIY for bath salts. How cute are those little jars? Next, I'm addicted to sugar scrubs, but dang, they are EXPENSIVE. I can't wait to try The Little Pine's versions. How refreshing does this lemon sugar scrub look?
How cute are these jars for your salts and scrubs? Even if you don't DIY, these are perfect for storing your salts when you buy them in bulk.

5. Time to Soak It In.
I can't wait to get everything organized and looking good so I can soak in my big tub, put on some music, and relax. What about you? Do you have the "get-stuff-clean" bug now too?
