and so it begins...
Well it all started about 60 days ago... the day of COLLEGE GRADUATION.For four years everyone had told me, "Don't rush this time." "These are the best years of your life." "You're going to want to go back as soon as you leave." and for four years I thought, "What are these people talking about?" I couldn't wait to be done. I was so ready to get out of there. I was full speed ahead nothing to slow me down. I was ready to be done almost from the moment I started. Now, don't get me wrong. I had a wonderful time in college. I met new people, I had some great adventures, I made some great friends, I had fun, it was a great experience and I wouldn't change hardly any of it... but I didn't want to stay there forever, I wanted to do my four years, get my degree and move on. I was ready to enter the world. Get going. Get doing. But then... it that day came, the day that it would all officially be over.... GRADUATION DAY. I was done. It was time to say good-bye...
About three weeks or so after graduation my dad and I, mainly my dad, packed up the U-Haul and he and my mom headed, with all of my possessions, to my new "home"... Washington, D.C. ... ish. For those of you who don't know... I accepted a job with a company working with the nation's leading health systems... I would explain to you what it is exactly that I do, but I'm not even sure what I do... I'll keep you posted. I flew in about a 2 days after they had driven half-way across the country, unloaded the U-Haul, and unpacked all the boxes, to my new place of residence... National Harbor, MD. It was an interesting place to say the least. With a great view from the rooftop.... my view... a parking garage...
Well one thing lead to another, and about 1.5 months later I was moving again... right across the bridge to a quaint, and by quaint I mean extremely old but adorable, expensive, little place, in Alexandria, Va. This will be my home for the next year or so...
I had to move for reasons, well let's just say reasons... and this time I had to do it alone. It was well... entertaining? an experience? something I could have never imagined... not in a billion years... they say a picture is worth a thousand words...
Yes. That is indeed my "moving truck"... No... this is not a joke. Yes... piled high atop that pick-up are all of my possessions. EVERYTHING I own... they only wanted to make one trip... let me remind you... I moved across the Potomac River... The total distance from the condo at National Harbor to the apartment in Alexandria, 2.2 miles. But they did it, in one trip, and the important thing... everything survived... in one piece. If you want their number just let me know...
All in all I learned a few things on move out/in day... 1. always get references 2. I have way too many clothes 3. Don't tell anyone you're from Texas... or tell everyone... they love us here... whoever told me that people up here don't like the Cowboys was seriously mistaken... they LOVE the Cowboys... since Staubach apparently... and they will tell you how much they love them... over and over and over again.
If my moving experience is a sign of what's to come... this is going to be an adventure. I'm excited, nervous, apprehensive, anxious, happy, and about a billion other emotions, about this new phase of my life. I'm going to learn new things, eat new food, see new stuff, and share it ALL with you....
